MATERNAL MENTAL HEALTH SERVICE

Dayspring community maternal mental health services provides professional support for women and their babies/young children who have experienced severe post natal depression or are living with an existing mental health issue.

Our Philosophy

Dayspring believes that we all need to have a hope for the future and a vision to inspire.

As a community based organisation we believe in the value of holistic care and support. We offer an integrated range of wrap around maternal mental health care of mothers and their families/whanau emotionally, spiritually and intellectually. The wellbeing of the mother means families can flourish and grow and ultimately affects the health of the communities we live in.

We believe in the inclusion of fathers. Inclusion of fathers is an integral component of the mothers recovery. Fathers are invaluable for their relationship directly with the baby and for their capacity to support the mother.

We believe in the inclusion of Whanau. Relationships are a key component with Dayspring Trust. We hold whakawhanaungatangatanga in high regard. We celebrate whanau and we revere our mothers connection to people, stories and traditions that create meaning and connects all parents deserve.

We believe in early intervention. Our objectives are to promote healthy mother/baby attachment relationships, with the inclusion of whanua and dads. To assist the mother in her recovery, using the principals of strengths  based recovery and self determination. Ensuring parents are empowered to continue their journey of healthy and positive relationships with the wider family/whanau, and local community.

We focus on the persons strengths not pathology, symptoms, weaknesses or deficits. Interventions occur in partnership with service users.
