Anne-Marie Hicks - Secure Beginnings Practitioner
B.A (psych); Grad.Dip. Clinical Child Psychotherapy; NZACAP (full member). Registered Psychotherapist with Child and Adolescent Specialism.
Anne-Marie has practised within inpatient and the community sectors of child mental health since 1999. She has lectured on the Graduate Diploma in Child Mental Health at AUT and has supervised Child Psychotherapy Master Students in their clinical work. More recently her focus has been on Infant Mental Health and working to address difficulties within the dyadic relationship. She is currently authorised by Circle of Security (COS) to facilitate the Secure Beginnings programme at Dayspring, which is based on the COS 20 week protocol.
“I joined Dayspring Trust in 2013 as it is an agency dedicated to Maternal wellbeing. They walk the talk of this vision, from the services offered to the programmes they run. But most importantly, it operates under the guidance of a strong dedicated board, that always keeps the women in mind”.
“As a Child Psychotherapist, I totally endorse the programme I run as it facilitates real change by building capacity within each mother.
Parents become able to see their child’s emotional needs and understand what makes them struggle to respond at times. This ushers in reflection and empathy and ultimately the capacity to respond, in a more secure way to their child’s emotional needs”.
One cannot undo awareness!
